The Osun State Police Command has apprehended a man identified as Saudi for allegedly beheading his father in Ilusi village. The shocking incident, which has left the community in disbelief, marks the first of its kind in the area in decades.
According to local sources, the victim, known in the village as Baale, went missing on Thursday after heading to the farm. Villagers, worried by his absence, organized a search party. Ismail Olaolu, a resident of Ilusi, reported that Baale’s headless body was discovered the next day, Friday, hidden under palm leaves.
The community quickly grew suspicious of Saudi, Baale’s son, as they had seen him accompany his father to the farm the previous day. After being questioned, Saudi allegedly confessed to the killing following a brief interrogation by local youth. Authorities found Baale’s motorcycle and cocoa harvest beside his body, suggesting he was ambushed while working.
Osun State Police spokesperson Yemisi Opalola confirmed the arrest and stated that the suspect remains in police custody as investigations continue. The tragic incident has left Ilusi residents mourning and seeking answers as they await the full findings of the police investigation.
