The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Delta State has strongly refuted claims suggesting that Governor Sheriff Oborevwori intends to defect to the All Progressives Congress (APC). The party described these reports as the “handiwork of jobless political hirelings” and their “ignoble sponsors.”
In a statement issued on Monday, Solomon Arenyeka, the state chairman of the PDP, urged the public to dismiss the “dubious speculation.” The statement read: “The attention of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Delta State chapter, has been drawn to malicious, baseless speculations circulating on social media suggesting that Governor Oborevwori has plans to join the APC.”
The PDP leadership condemned the reports, calling them the work of “failed agents of destabilization and treachery.” They clarified that the individuals behind the rumors, who claimed to be concerned PDP leaders, were impostors with no affiliation to the party.
The party also denounced the key figure behind the rumors as a “notorious serial blackmailer” who spreads falsehoods to survive. The PDP reassured the public that Governor Oborevwori remains focused on his governance agenda, the M.O.R.E initiative, which includes extensive investments in infrastructure and human capital development across Delta State.
