…Says Enyeama Still Emotionally Broken

Newly appointed caretaker coach of the Super Eagles, Samson Siasia has expressed optimism that he would lead the Super Eagles to victory against the Pharaohs of Egypt when the two team files out at the Ahmadu Bello Stadium in Kaduna on march 25th.
Siasia was named caretaker coach of the Super Eagles following the resignation of Sunday Oliseh ahead of the two header Africa Cup of Nations AFCON qualifier against Egypt at the Ahmadu Bello stadium in Kaduna on march 25th with a return leg a fortnight later at the Alexandre stadium in Egypt.
In a chat with nationalTrail Sports in Abuja after unveiling him invited team lists, Siasia disclosed that the Egyptians cannot come to Nigeria and defeat his team.
According to him, Egypt boasts of a good team having failed to qualified for the last three editions of AFCON and will come all out against the super Eagles but I am confident the victory would be secured as we are also ready to match them with a formidable team.
Though he expressed reservations with some of the invited foreign based player’s ability to cope with the hot weather in Nigeria, Siasia said that was the reason behind the invitation of many home based players who are used to the weather for the encounter.
“At the moment, the weather in Europe is very cold and with four days to the match that the team will start camping in Kaduna, one cannot rule out the weather factor and that is why, we have invited twenty two home based players to compliment those who could not withstand the weather situation in Kaduna”, he stated.
He disclosed that even though Egypt has not featured in the last three editions of AFCON, they boasts of many good home based players and the technical team will study their Video clips before the match, stressing that about six of the players that will feature in Kaduna were in the team that played in Senegal.
“We have decided to make use of some of the U-23 team that won in Senegal because most of them played together in Senegal and with the help of the foreign based players, we can be sure of victory against Egypt”, he added.
Super Eagles Caretaker Coach, Samson Siasia has said that goalkeeper Vincent Enyeama is still emotionally broken down from his confrontation with Sunday Oliseh and would not be part of the AFCON qualifier against Egypt in Kaduna. Siasia said he was in touch with the former Super Eagles number one goalkeeper and he had told him to be left out of the team for now as he is still emotionally broken down from his confrontation with Sunday Oliseh.
“It is unfortunate that he is not in the best frame of mind for the match against Egypt, we need him and the door is always open for him anytime he is ready to be part of the team again, the game against Egypt is a very delicate one and you cannot gamble with someone who is not emotionally ready for the game’’ Siasia stated.
On Emenike, Siasia said he had not been able to ascertain whether Emenike is ready to play for the team again.
“I have read in some papers that he is not ready to play for his country again, it is a very sensitive issue for one to say he is not ready to play for his country, I have not been in touch with him but I have told the team Secretary to make contact with
him but for now he is not part of our plans, may be in future, nobody can tell”, Siasia stated.
