Kwara State Government has lauded the Management of the State Polytechnic for their unwavering commitment to enhancing educational standards and initiatives, pledging its continued support to the premier tertiary institution in the State.
The Commissioner for Tertiary Education, Hajia Saa’datu Modibbo Kawu, gave the commendation during an official visit to the institution, marking her maiden trip to the Polytechnic since her redeployment to the Ministry of Tertiary Education.
Hajia Modibbo Kawu, who applauded the Polytechnic’s commercial farming and smart agriculture initiatives, among others, assured the Management of the state government’s unwavering support for the Polytechnic in its pursuit of academic excellence.
On the challenges of land encroachment and funding facing the Polytechnic, the Commissioner assured the Management of the state government commitment to addressing them, particularly the land encroachment issue that is threatening the Polytechnic’s expansion and future development.
She also assured the Management that the state government would continue to support the institution towards meeting accreditation standards and providing quality education to their students.
Earlier in his remarks, the Rector of the Polytechnic, Engr. Dr. Abdul Jimoh Muhammed, had highlighted two significant challenges facing the institution, primarily land encroachment and funding.
Engr. Abdul, who appreciated the Commissioner’s visit, emphasised the need for financial assistance from the state government, particularly during accreditation exercises.
The visit was rounded off with a tour of the Polytechnic’s commercial farm, poultry farm, and Entrepreneurship Development Centre, where the Commissioner had the opportunity to engage the staff, further reinforcing the state government’s dedication to investing in its tertiary institutions and supporting their vital roles in the state’s progress and development.
