Seven people have been confirmed dead following a violent clash between a repentant bandit and a group of illegal miners in Kuyello area of Kaduna State.

Zagazola report that the incident occurred on Thursday after a repentant bandit, identified only as Shu’aibu, allegedly used an AK-47 rifle to forcefully collect gold from the miners.

In retaliation, other miners reportedly mobilised and overpowered Shu’aibu, inflicting fatal injuries on him. The deceased’s associates later launched a reprisal attack on the illegal mining site, killing seven miners and injuring several others.

Troops of Operation FANSAN YANMA were immediately mobilised to the scene and evacuated the victims to the General Hospital, Shika, where seven of the miners were confirmed dead by a medical doctor.

Their corpses were deposited at the hospital mortuary for post-mortem examination, while the injured victims are receiving treatment.

A 30-year-old man has been allegedly beaten to death by a husband for attempting to entice his wife in Lumbu community, Ningi Local Government Area.

Zagazola Makama learnt that the incident occurred at about 2:09 a.m. on Friday when the deceased, identified as Sanusi Tinau, allegedly visited the house of a yet-to-be-identified man to entice his wife.

The husband reportedly attacked Tinau, beating him to a state of unconsciousness before fleeing the scene.

Police operatives responded promptly, evacuating the victim to the General Hospital, Ningi, where he was confirmed dead by a medical doctor.

The report said efforts are ongoing to apprehend the fleeing suspect as investigation continues.

The Office of the Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice wishes to clarify that no inmate approved for clemency under the recent exercise of the President’s power of prerogative of mercy has been released from custody.
In a press release signed by the Attorney general of the federation Prince Lateef Fagbemi, on Thursday stated that

The process remains at the final administrative stage, which includes a standard review to ensure that all names and recommendations fully comply with established legal and procedural requirements before any instrument of release is issued.

It is important to note that the last stage of the exercise, after approval by the Council of State, is the issuance of the instrument for the implementation of the decision concerning each beneficiary. This stage affords an opportunity for a final look at the list for remedial purposes, if any, before the instrument is forwarded to the Controller-General of Corrections for necessary action.
This verification process is part of the standard protocol and reflects the government’s commitment to transparency and due diligence.

The Honourable Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice appreciates the public’s vigilance and constructive feedback, which continue to strengthen institutional integrity.
