The Ogun State Police Command announced on Wednesday that four travellers abducted on the Sagamu-Ijebu-Ode expressway on Sunday have regained their freedom.
The Command’s Spokesperson, SP Omolola Odutola, confirmed in a statement that the anti-kidnapping team successfully rescued Mr. Ola and three Indian nationals along the Ogere axis of the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.
Odutola stated, “One Mr. Ola, Pujan, and two other Indians, names yet unknown, have regained their freedom along Ogere inward Lagos-Ibadan expressway. Efforts are ongoing to arrest the fleeing suspects.”
The Commissioner of Police, Abiodun Alamutu, had earlier directed the anti-kidnapping unit to pursue the kidnappers following the incident. The gunmen reportedly ambushed the travellers between the Sagamu Area Command of the Nigeria Police and Ilisan township.
Wemmy Osude, Chairman of the Ilisan Development Council, noted that some other victims were taken into the bush by the hoodlums. The police are continuing their efforts to capture the suspects and ensure the safety of all travellers in the area.
