Adebayo Advises Against Protest, Calls for Strategic Voting

By Milcah Tanimu

Adewole Adebayo, the Social Democratic Party (SDP) presidential candidate in the 2023 elections, has voiced his concerns regarding the planned nationwide protest against economic hardships in Nigeria.

In a social media statement, Adebayo encouraged Nigerians to make more informed choices in future elections, emphasizing the rejection of neoliberal government policies rather than resorting to street protests.

He stated, “Why don’t I endorse mass protests? Elections have consequences and the winner must use his mandate; a 4-year tenure is sacred if we must avoid chaos; protests lack an ideological basis since their sponsors follow the same neoliberal policies. Vote wisely next time.”

Adebayo further recommended, “What do I endorse? Articulating alternative policies with better outcomes than IMF-inspired neoliberal experiments; organizing voters to act in their socioeconomic best interests; avoiding chaos instigated by foreign and domestic enemies of Nigeria; debunking lies from the APC government.”
