Ahmed Swears In 10 Perm Secs, Tasks Them On Service Delivery
By Steve Oni, Ilorin
The Kwara state Governor, Alhaji Abdulfatah Ahmed has sworn in 10 new permanent secretaries, with a charge to them to truly lead the service and champion government policies for the comfort and benefit of the people of the state.
The governor, while performing the ceremony at the Government House, Ilorin on Wednesday, noted that the new permanent secretaries were adjudged to possess the qualification, knowledge, and experience to deliver on the responsibilities of their new offices.
He said that considering the present position of the state, it requires the service of diligent and committed senior civil servants such as the new permanent secretaries to come up with innovative ideas that would make the state’s civil service the toast of others in the country.
He, therefore, charged the new appointees to justify the confidence reposed in them by the government and the people of the state.
He said: “You must see your appointments as opportunities to serve and to contribute your quota to the development of Kwara State. You must do this with zeal and commitment to make indelible contributions to the development of the state.”
“As we are all no doubt aware, the Civil Service is the engine room of the government. This is because it plays pivotal roles in ensuring that government policies and programmes are implemented to the letter.
“Our implicit confidence in the Civil Service, therefore, informed our huge investment in capacity development and infrastructure to create the appropriate environment for the attainment of this administration’s development goals.
“I make bold to state that this approach has paid off handsomely as services are now provided to the public with the principles of promptness, equity and fairness in mind.
“As Permanent Secretaries, you should reciprocate this good gesture by providing quality leadership in your Ministries, Departments and Agencies of posting.
“You should ensure staffers have equal opportunity in the process of implementing the policies and programmes of Government.
You must also relate well with the Commissioners and avoid rancour and other ills that could slow down the work of government. Equally, you must ensure that the junior colleagues are carried along in all operations of your MDAs to ensure inclusiveness and greater sense of belonging”, he added.
Ahmed also reiterated his administration’s zero tolerance for corruption and wastage, adding that, “it is therefore incumbent on you to inculcate due process, prudence, accountability and transparency in all your operations.
“This administration will frown at infractions in whatever form and treat such with all the seriousness it deserves”, he further satetd.
Responding on behalf of his colleagues, Alhaji Yinusa Tajudeen Adebayo, Permanent Secretary, Establishment and Training, Governor’s Office, appreciated the governor for the appointment and promised that they would justify the confidence reposed in them.
He also appreciated the Ahmed-led administration for elevating them to the peak of their careers.

Pius Akutah’s Alleged Fraud at Nigerian Shippers Council Uncovered
Investigations by Nigerian Concord Newspaper reveal that the Executive Secretary of the Nigerian Shippers Council, Mr. Pius Akutah, has allegedly misappropriated public funds for a lavish lifestyle.
According to our findings, within months of assuming office, Akutah allegedly purchased a bulletproof SUV valued at approximately N850 million. In addition, he is reported to have acquired over twenty exotic SUVs for use as a convoy.
Akutah is also said to have acquired multiple high-value properties, including three in Abuja’s Maitama and Asokoro districts worth over N2 billion, and two in Lagos’ Banana Island valued at N1.8 billion. These acquisitions appear far beyond the scope of his official salary and allowances.
Further investigation suggests that Akutah may be using public funds to support political ambitions, including allegedly grooming militants across 23 local government areas in Benue State for a potential 2027 gubernatorial bid.
Staff of the Shippers Council reportedly claim that Akutah frequently accesses the council’s treasury without proper authorization. Some insiders have indicated that a petition will soon be filed with the EFCC, ICPC, and the Presidency to report his alleged misconduct.
