Airtel’s Smartcash Launches International Remittance Service to Boost Financial Inclusion

Airtel Africa Plc has announced the launch of an international remittance service through its subsidiary, Smartcash PSB. This move aims to contribute to global financial inclusion by providing customers with a convenient and cost-effective means of funds remittance.

Judith Osiobe, Head of B2B Sales at Smartcash PSB, highlighted the competitive tariffs offered by the new service compared to traditional remittance methods. Customers can easily activate the service by opening an account using their existing mobile numbers. Activation can be done by dialing *939# or by downloading the Smartcash PSB app.

Ogo Ofomata, Director of Airtel Business, emphasized that Airtel Business has been actively providing data and cloud management solutions to both Small and Medium Scale Enterprises (SMEs) and government agencies. The company recognizes the unique needs of different sectors, leading to the creation of specialized events to showcase solutions tailored for specific industries.

Airtel Nigeria Director of Marketing, Ismail Adeshina, highlighted the company’s significant investments in 5G infrastructure. The focus includes towers, base stations, and spectrum licenses to ensure widespread 5G coverage across Nigeria. Adeshina mentioned active collaborations with technology partners, device manufacturers, and local businesses to explore innovative 5G use cases, including applications for the Internet of Things (IoT) and smart city solutions.
