Aisha Yesufu Criticizes GEJ for Favoring Big Business, Impacting Small Enterprises

Social critic Aisha Yesufu has accused former President Goodluck Jonathan of favoring wealthy individuals like Aliko Dangote by granting excessive waivers, which she claims severely harmed small businesses. Yesufu’s remarks come in the wake of recent tensions between Dangote and Nigeria’s oil industry regulators, with the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority recently stating that Dangote’s refinery lacks the necessary operational license.

In a social media post, Yesufu criticized Jonathan’s administration for allegedly enabling practices that led to widespread financial damage through predatory pricing and money laundering. She stated, “We often romanticize the past, but GEJ’s excessive waivers to Dangote and others contributed to the downfall of many small businesses. There was significant money laundering through predatory pricing, which devastated countless enterprises.”
