The Police Command in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) has arrested a suspected armed robber and recovered a pistol magazine with live ammunition following a reported robbery in Durumi District.

Sources said on Thursday in Abuja that the incident occurred on Tuesday at about 11 a.m. at the UK Car Park, Durumi.

The sources said the victim, Tijani Kaumi of Gwarimpa 3rd Avenue, was lured under the pretext of buying a phone by one Ismail Yakubu of no fixed address.

Upon alighting from his car, Kaumi was attacked by a group of armed men who robbed him of valuables including an iPhone 15, iPhone 11 Pro Max, a Nokia phone, a wristwatch, and ₦20,000 in cash.

“The victim was also forced to transfer ₦100,000 from his Opay account to the suspects’ Opay account. On receipt of the report, police operatives visited the scene and arrested one Ismail Aliyu, also of no fixed address, recovering a pistol magazine with one live round of ammunition from him,” said the sources

The sources added that the suspect is currently in custody undergoing interrogation, while efforts to apprehend the fleeing accomplices are ongoing.

Armed bandits have abducted a naval officer and members of his family in Kachia Local Government Area of Kaduna State.

Zagazola learnt that the incident occurred on Aug. 20, 2025, at about 0200hrs, when the gunmen stormed Unguwan Mission, Kachia, and whisked away Seaman Olatunji Enoch, 40, of the Nigerian Navy attached to NNSAT Kachia.

The assailants also took away his wife, Margaret Olatunji, 25, and their daughter, Hellen Bitrus, 13, during the attack.

Security agencies have since launched a manhunt for the perpetrators, with cordon-and-search operations ongoing in surrounding bushes. The operation aims to ensure the safe rescue of the victims without harm.

At least 15 farmers have been killed in coordinated attacks on seven villages in the Chakfem district of Mangu Local Government Area, Plateau State.

The affected communities—Manden, Jibin, Tim, Jiblang, Koppang, Mihdihin, and Jilem—were invaded on Monday evening, with assailants burning houses, looting livestock, and leaving several residents injured.

Local sources told Daily Trust that over 3,000 people have been displaced, while the injured are receiving treatment at COCIN Hospital, Mwar-Chakfem.

The National President of the Mwaghavul Development Association (MDA), Bulus Dabit, confirmed the incident, noting that poor access to the villages delayed information and hindered timely security response.

“The attack happened around 7:30 to 8:00 p.m. when many residents had already retired for the day. Houses, including that of the traditional ruler, and his official vehicle were burnt. Those who managed to escape survived, but others were killed,” Dabit said.

He added that security personnel only reached the communities the following day, by which time the attackers had fled. “The terrain is difficult, and Chakfem district shares borders with Quanpan LGA and parts of Nasarawa State, which provides attackers with entry routes,” he explained.

Dabit called on the federal government to urgently intervene, warning that persistent killings could wipe out entire communities. “These attacks are not normal. The frequency and scale reveal a deliberate plan to annihilate our people,” he said.

Survivors Speak

Survivors described the ordeal as harrowing, recounting how families were wiped out in the violence.

Community leaders, led by Dapet Chris Otega, said more than 61 villages across Bokkos and Mangu LGAs have suffered similar attacks over the years, with over 10 completely sacked and occupied.

“With our own eyes, we have seen entire families of nine or ten people wiped out. Lives in the thousands have been lost, and properties worth billions destroyed,” Otega said, alleging that Fulani herders were behind the raids.

Miyetti Allah Reacts

The Plateau State chairman of Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN), Ibrahim Yusuf Babayo, dismissed the allegations as baseless.

In a statement, the group urged government to focus on rebuilding affected communities, addressing insecurity, and investing in economic and social development to tackle root causes of violence.
