“Bandits Claim Lives of Seven Soldiers, Community Leader, and 28 Farmers in Zamfara and Bauchi”
In a deadly encounter between troops of Operation Hadarin Daji and bandits near Kangon Garucci in the Dangulbi district, Maru Local Government Area of Zamfara State, seven soldiers and 22 farmers tragically lost their lives.
Local residents caught in the attack were either trapped while tending to their farmlands or found themselves amidst a deadly crossfire between the soldiers and the criminals.
The onslaught was reportedly led by notorious bandit leaders known as Ali Kawajo, Damina, and ‘Black’. According to a local resident, Sani Baba, ‘Black’ has been a consistent terror for local farmers, frequently forcing them to work on his lands.
In a counteroperation, troops of Sector 1 Operation Hadarin Daji, in collaboration with those deployed at Forward Operating Base (FOB) Wanke in Gusau Local Government, reportedly neutralized at least seven bandits.
The Joint Task Force Commander for North-West Operation Hadarin Daji, Major General Godwin Mutkut, lauded the troops’ bravery and resilience against the bandits. According to him, the troops executed an ambush operation along a route suspected of bandit activity. “Following the encounter, troops chased other fleeing bandits, recovering one machine gun, ammunition, and six motorcycles,” he added.
Meanwhile, in Bauchi, bandits orchestrated a lethal attack in Kada village, Ningi Local Government Area, leading to the death of the village head, Mai Anguwa Ali, five others, and a volunteer security officer. The bandits also injured a soldier in a gunfight in Gamji Village.
The deceased included Alhaji Ibrahim, Shuaibu Adamu (45), Yunusa Adamu (50), Umaru Sabo (25), and Ali Aldo. The attackers invaded the area on motorcycles around 9 pm on Tuesday.
A local resident, Saleh, reported to the Daily Trust that the bandits broke into village shops, making away with foodstuffs and two motorcycles.
The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Ahmed Wakil, confirmed the tragic incident. “We received a distress call about bandit attacks on Kada and Gamji villages in Ningi LGA. The criminals arrived in large numbers, shooting indiscriminately, which resulted in seven casualties,” he recounted.
He further revealed that law enforcement officers, in collaboration with the Nigerian military, engaged the bandits, neutralizing three while the rest fled. “One of our operatives, a soldier, was injured and has been rushed to the hospital for treatment,” Wakil added.
SP Ahmed Wakil further revealed that law enforcement, in collaboration with other agencies and local vigilantes, is presently combing the area in pursuit of the perpetrators. “The Commissioner of Police has directed the Area Commander to make every effort, within the confines of the law, to apprehend those responsible for the attacks,” he added.
In a separate incident, armed men targeted Yadagungume, abducting the wife, daughter, and driver of Alhaji Lawan Maliya, a well-known businessman in the area, in the early hours of yesterday.
This incident occurred just three days after the Bauchi State Police Command reported the rescue of 10 kidnapping victims, the neutralization of two kidnappers, and the arrest of another in Ningi Local Government Area.

Pius Akutah’s Alleged Fraud at Nigerian Shippers Council Uncovered
Investigations by Nigerian Concord Newspaper reveal that the Executive Secretary of the Nigerian Shippers Council, Mr. Pius Akutah, has allegedly misappropriated public funds for a lavish lifestyle.
According to our findings, within months of assuming office, Akutah allegedly purchased a bulletproof SUV valued at approximately N850 million. In addition, he is reported to have acquired over twenty exotic SUVs for use as a convoy.
Akutah is also said to have acquired multiple high-value properties, including three in Abuja’s Maitama and Asokoro districts worth over N2 billion, and two in Lagos’ Banana Island valued at N1.8 billion. These acquisitions appear far beyond the scope of his official salary and allowances.
Further investigation suggests that Akutah may be using public funds to support political ambitions, including allegedly grooming militants across 23 local government areas in Benue State for a potential 2027 gubernatorial bid.
Staff of the Shippers Council reportedly claim that Akutah frequently accesses the council’s treasury without proper authorization. Some insiders have indicated that a petition will soon be filed with the EFCC, ICPC, and the Presidency to report his alleged misconduct.
