The Borno State Government has signed a contract worth over N7.9 billion for the construction of a flyover in Maiduguri, the state capital. The State Ministry of Works and Housing, represented by Engr Mustapha Gubio, signed the contract with ECC 18 engineering company for the construction of a flyover at West End Round on Monday.
This project marks the third flyover to be constructed by the Zulum-led administration and is expected to be completed within 12 months. Engr Mustapha Gubio emphasized that the project followed all due processes of the E-Procurement Process for the award of contracts, and ECC was chosen based on their previous achievements and suitability for the project.
The contractor was urged to ensure quality work and adhere strictly to the project’s specifications, aiming to complete it within the stipulated 12-month period. A 40% mobilization fee has already been paid to the contractor, with an additional 10% proposed soon, making it 50% of the total payment. The state government, having invested significantly in road construction and drainage projects, intends to continue developing the state in line with its 25-year development plan.
The representative of EEC Construction Company, Mr. Gao Kun, assured that they would justify the confidence placed in them and execute the project according to the specifications. The Acting Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Works and Housing, Engr Abubakar Aliyu Baware, highlighted that the award of the contract followed due processes, and EEC, having a track record of successful construction projects in the state, was deemed qualified for the task. The Bureau of Public Procurement representative, Alhaji Babakura Bukar, affirmed that the Ministry of Works complied with BPP rules and regulations in awarding the contract.
