The Cross River State government has announced the successful rehabilitation of the Obudu Cattle Ranch, now open to tourists.
Commissioner for Culture, Art, and Tourism, Abubakar Ewa, shared this news with The Guardian in Calabar.
Located on the Obudu plateau in Obanliku Local Council, the ranch was initially developed by former Governor Donald Duke but fell into disrepair during the previous administration of Ben Ayade.
Ewa revealed that the current government, in collaboration with CIBA Construction Company, is working to restore the ranch to its former glory to attract tourists and visitors.
He stated, “The Obudu Cattle Ranch is significantly improved, although work is ongoing. We have partnered with CIBA Construction Company and Marriot Hotels to revitalize the ranch.
“We are making significant progress; the water park is operational, the mountain villa and African hut are restored, and power and water supplies are functional. All essential amenities for the resort’s operation are in place.”
Ewa also mentioned that the cable cars are ready, pending recertification by PONNET, the original manufacturer. Local engineers have already serviced the cable cars, but final certification is necessary before they can be fully operational.
