CVR: 22, 156 males, 12, 099 females additional voters to vote in Niger state in 2019
BY MAIRIGA Juliana, Minna
A total of, 34, 255 eligible male and female voters have registered in the first quarter of the on-going Continuous Voters’ Registration (CVR) which took place in all the 25 local government headquarters and 8 additional voting centres in Niger state between April 1st and July, 20th 2017.
Apparently to express displeasure of inadequately representation in the current political dispensation, the number of women participation in the ongoing CVR exercise in Niger state have drastically reduced with only, 12, 099 females against, 22, 156 males.
The Administrative Secretary, Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Niger state, Alhaji Isa Aliyu Bungudu disclosed this in an interview as part of activities to round up the first quarter of the CVR exercise in parts of the state.
“Initially we started in all the 25 Local Government Council but two weeks back we got additional 8 centres, 2 in Minna the state capital and others are spread across the 3 senatorial districts”, the INEC Administrative Secretary in Niger state said.
Similarly, the ongoing CVR in the state as directed by the INEC headquarters in Abuja, included the distribution of unclaimed 11, 449 number of Permanent Voters Cards (PVCs) during the 2015 general election which we also distributing, the Administrative Secretary said.
At the end of the 90 days, Bungudu said “We will display the list for claims, observations and objections by people whose names may have been wrongly spelt, double registration or under-aged registration will be reconciled with voters before final compilation of the names”.
He said, “We also have cases of people whose PVC was mutilated, damaged of lost. Some registered in other states or at the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja but now relocated to Niger state where they would want to vote, so we have a lot of things we are doing to ensure all eligible voters are captured ahead of the 2019 general election”.
It is a continuous exercise, Isa Bungudu further hinted, saying, ‘we intend to start the second quarter of PVC issuance by 31st of this month as soon as we display the authentic list of the 34, 255 eligible voters so far captured in the state’.

Pius Akutah’s Alleged Fraud at Nigerian Shippers Council Uncovered
Investigations by Nigerian Concord Newspaper reveal that the Executive Secretary of the Nigerian Shippers Council, Mr. Pius Akutah, has allegedly misappropriated public funds for a lavish lifestyle.
According to our findings, within months of assuming office, Akutah allegedly purchased a bulletproof SUV valued at approximately N850 million. In addition, he is reported to have acquired over twenty exotic SUVs for use as a convoy.
Akutah is also said to have acquired multiple high-value properties, including three in Abuja’s Maitama and Asokoro districts worth over N2 billion, and two in Lagos’ Banana Island valued at N1.8 billion. These acquisitions appear far beyond the scope of his official salary and allowances.
Further investigation suggests that Akutah may be using public funds to support political ambitions, including allegedly grooming militants across 23 local government areas in Benue State for a potential 2027 gubernatorial bid.
Staff of the Shippers Council reportedly claim that Akutah frequently accesses the council’s treasury without proper authorization. Some insiders have indicated that a petition will soon be filed with the EFCC, ICPC, and the Presidency to report his alleged misconduct.
