Dakku Peterside Appointed DG NIMASA

The Rivers State All Progressives Congress, APC, gubernatorial candidate in the 2015 general election, Dakuku Peterside, has been appointed as Director General of the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA).

Peterside who only recently lost his bid to occupy the Port Harcourt Government House to the current governor, Nyesom Wike of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, is to take over as the agency’s substantive chief executive.
Since the removal of Patrick Akpolobokemi, who is now facing charges of allegation bordering on the theft of N3.7 billion, the agency has been without a substantive chief executive.
The appointment is contained in a statement issued in Abuja, today(Thursday) by the Director of Public Relations, Ministry of Transportation, Yetunde Sonaike.
She said the appointment was with immediate effect.
The statement said Peterside holds a doctorate in Management Science from the University of Port Harcourt and MBA in Business Administration.
He also holds a Bachelor Degree in Medical Laboratory Sciences (B.MLS) in Hematology from Rivers State University of Science and Technology.
The appointment of Peterside who was a member of the house of representative between 2011 and 2015, the statement said was with immediate effect.

Investigations by Nigerian Concord Newspaper reveal that the Executive Secretary of the Nigerian Shippers Council, Mr. Pius Akutah, has allegedly misappropriated public funds for a lavish lifestyle.

According to our findings, within months of assuming office, Akutah allegedly purchased a bulletproof SUV valued at approximately N850 million. In addition, he is reported to have acquired over twenty exotic SUVs for use as a convoy.

Akutah is also said to have acquired multiple high-value properties, including three in Abuja’s Maitama and Asokoro districts worth over N2 billion, and two in Lagos’ Banana Island valued at N1.8 billion. These acquisitions appear far beyond the scope of his official salary and allowances.

Further investigation suggests that Akutah may be using public funds to support political ambitions, including allegedly grooming militants across 23 local government areas in Benue State for a potential 2027 gubernatorial bid.

Staff of the Shippers Council reportedly claim that Akutah frequently accesses the council’s treasury without proper authorization. Some insiders have indicated that a petition will soon be filed with the EFCC, ICPC, and the Presidency to report his alleged misconduct.
