Defence Chief: Okuama Still Unreachable Due to Cordon-and-Search Operation

General Christopher Musa, the Chief of Defence Staff, disclosed that the Army is currently conducting a cordon-and-search operation in Okuama community, Delta State, following the killing of 17 soldiers by militants on March 14.

The ongoing operation has rendered the community inaccessible, prompting residents to flee due to fears of reprisal attacks.

Speaking on Arise TV, Gen. Musa emphasized the need to thoroughly sweep the community for weapons and explosives left behind by criminals. He assured that residents would return once the operation is complete.

Gen. Musa accused the community of harboring criminals, stating that investigations would reveal the truth. He affirmed that the cordon-and-search operation is temporary and aimed at restoring peace to the area.
