The Ministry of Defence (MoD) has recently provided a significant boost to the professional capabilities of the Nigerian Armed Forces by delivering 20 newly acquired Armored Personnel Carriers (APCs) to the Defence Headquarters.
In a statement issued by Ibrahim Kana, the Permanent Secretary of the MoD, it was revealed that the handover ceremony took place in Abuja, with the APCs being formally presented to the Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), Gen. Christopher Musa.
Speaking at the event, Kana highlighted the strategic importance of this step in strengthening the nation’s defense capabilities and addressing emerging security challenges effectively. He emphasized that these APCs would enhance the operational readiness of the Nigerian Armed Forces, providing both enhanced protection and mobility to troops.
Similarly, Gen. Christopher Musa underscored the significance of the acquisition, stating that it reflects the commitment of the Armed Forces to equip troops adequately in confronting evolving security threats. He praised the Ministry of Defence for its dedicated support in bolstering national defense capabilities.
The CDS expressed gratitude for the acquisition, noting that it marks a pivotal moment in Nigeria’s ongoing efforts to enhance its defense capabilities and ensure national security. With the addition of these 20 Armored Personnel Carriers, the Nigerian Armed Forces are now better prepared to address the challenges of the modern security landscape and maintain peace and stability across the nation.
The ceremony was attended by other key figures, including Maj.-Gen. Emmanuel Undiandeye, the Chief of Defence Intelligence, highlighting the collective commitment to strengthening Nigeria’s defense infrastructure and safeguarding its sovereignty.
