Ebonyi LG Chairman distributes vehicles to councillors

The Executive Chairman of Ikwo Local Government Area of Ebonyi state, Mr Sunday Nwankwo has procured and distributed new brand Toyota Corolla vehicles to the twenty Councillors of the Legislative arm.

The event which took place at the Council headquarters, Onuebonyi Echara witnessed the presence of government functionaries, Traditional Rulers, Town Union Executives, Youths and Women Organisations as well as friends and associates of the beneficiaries of the vehicles.

Apart from distribution of the vehicles to the lawmakers, other activities that added glamour to the event were the foundation laying ceremony for the Construction of Ikwo Legislative Complex and Traditional Rulers Secretariat at the headquarters of the Council.

Performing the foundation laying ceremony for the Construction of Ikwo Legislative Complex, the Speaker, Ebonyi State House of Assembly, Rt Hon. Moses Odunwa said he was satisfied with the way the Council Chairman was stepping down to the rural areas the programmes and policies of the State Governor, Rt. Hon. Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru and urged the beneficiaries of the vehicles to use them in the interest of the party, All Progressives Congress(APC).

Speaking, the Chairman of Ikwo Local Government Council, Mr. Sunday Nwankwo said the decision to procure the vehicles as well as embarking on the construction of the buildings was to compliment the efforts of Governor Francis Nwifuru in implementing his manifesto, Ebonyi Charter of Needs’

The Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters, Chief Uche Igwe who performed the foundation laying ceremony of the Traditional Rulers Secretariat, said Ikwo Council Chairman deserves a pat on the back for being the first among the thirteen Council Areas in the State to initiate such projects and enjoined people of Ikwo to remain supportive of APC led government in the state.

The Member representing Ikwo/Ezza South Federal Constituency in the National Assembly, Comrade Chinedu Ogah represented by Mr. Chinedu Nwali, the Chairman, Traditional Rulers Council, South East Zone, Eze Charles Mkpuma and Commissioner for Culture and Tourism, Mr. Ifeanyi Ogbuewu lauded the Council Chairman, for his thoughtfulness in giving the Councillors pride of place.

Other Speakers including; The Deputy Principal Secretary to the Governor, Chief Okeh Oreke, the Traditional Prime Minister of Amagu Erimogwudu Kingdom, Chief Okeagu Ogadah and the Traditional Ruler, Amagu Erimogwudu Kingdom, Eze Dominic Ibor Aloh said the gesture deserves emulation and charged the Councillors to make judicious use of the cars, adding that with the vehicles, they will discharge their duties efficiently.

Leader of Ikwo Legislative Council, Hon Steve Nwukwu appreciated the Council Chairman for the gesture and promised that they will use them for the service of the people.
