The Federal Government has inaugurated the Governing Board of the National Senior School Education, headed by the former Nigerian Ambassador to The Kingdom of The Netherlands, (Dr.) Mrs Nimotalai Nihinlola Akanbi.
Speaking at the inauguration of the Board, the Minister of Education, Mallam Adamu Adamu, charged its members to use their wealth of experience to pilot the nation’s senior Secondary education towards excellence,
He, however, called on the board members to uphold the principles of Federal Character to promote equity and fairness in the discharge of their duties.
According to him, the board is charged with the responsibilities of prescribing the Minimum Standards and regulating the Senior Secondary Education in Nigeria.
Adamu Adamu also charged them to respect the principles of federal character in the appointment of staff and as well comply with all relevant government regulations, including ensuring transparency, proper and due process in all their endeavours .
The Minister urged the board members to put executive service in place for early detection of allegations of social vices such as bribery, religious intolerance and other forms of misconduct.
In his own remarks, the Minister of State for Education, Chukwuemeka Nwajiuba said all opportunities should be harnessed by members of the board to put the commission on a sound footing and in accordance with the regulations contained in the ministerial strategic plan 2018 -2022 which is intended to provide the roadmap for
accelerated delivery of inclusive quality education to Nigerian citizens.
Responding on behalf of other members of the Governing Board, National Senior Secondary School Education, Ambassador Nihinlola Akanbi opined that members of the board are round pegs in round holes who have all it takes to formulate policies for and supervise senior secondary education in the country.
Ambassador Akanbi, who is also the immediate past Pro- Chancellor of Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University, Bauchi, disclosed that the test before them is tasking, but not insurmountable due to her personal belief in the indefatigable Minister of Education, Mallam Adamu Adamu and members of the board.

Pius Akutah’s Alleged Fraud at Nigerian Shippers Council Uncovered
Investigations by Nigerian Concord Newspaper reveal that the Executive Secretary of the Nigerian Shippers Council, Mr. Pius Akutah, has allegedly misappropriated public funds for a lavish lifestyle.
According to our findings, within months of assuming office, Akutah allegedly purchased a bulletproof SUV valued at approximately N850 million. In addition, he is reported to have acquired over twenty exotic SUVs for use as a convoy.
Akutah is also said to have acquired multiple high-value properties, including three in Abuja’s Maitama and Asokoro districts worth over N2 billion, and two in Lagos’ Banana Island valued at N1.8 billion. These acquisitions appear far beyond the scope of his official salary and allowances.
Further investigation suggests that Akutah may be using public funds to support political ambitions, including allegedly grooming militants across 23 local government areas in Benue State for a potential 2027 gubernatorial bid.
Staff of the Shippers Council reportedly claim that Akutah frequently accesses the council’s treasury without proper authorization. Some insiders have indicated that a petition will soon be filed with the EFCC, ICPC, and the Presidency to report his alleged misconduct.
