Mr. Temitope Fadeshemi, the Permanent Secretary of the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security, made this assertion during the training and empowerment of 250 farmers under the National Poverty Reduction with Growth Strategy (NPRGS) in Abuja. Fadeshemi highlighted the importance of empowering verified and validated farmers, considering it a crucial initiative for the nation’s agricultural success. He urged the farmers to recognize their role as paramount in shaping the trajectory of the agricultural sector. Dr. Deola Lordbanjou, the Head of Horticulture at the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security, emphasized that the provided inputs would enhance farmers’ productivity. He also encouraged Nigerians to engage in backyard farming as a means to alleviate food scarcity. A beneficiary, Elizabeth Oyerinde, expressed gratitude for the intervention and pledged to make effective use of the provided inputs.
