Former Lagos State Governor Akinwunmi Ambode made a significant comeback to the forefront of politics as he met with President Bola Tinubu in Lagos. The meeting took place at a reception organized by the current Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, to honor Tinubu.
Ambode’s presence at the event marked his first visit to the State House since leaving office over four years ago. Acknowledging Ambode’s attendance, Tinubu expressed his gladness and thanked him for being present.
The reception was held to welcome Tinubu, who was visiting the state for the first time as the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria during the Sallah break. Tinubu had recently returned to Lagos after a seven-day trip abroad.
Previously, there were speculations of strained relations between Governor Sanwo-Olu and his predecessor, Ambode, stemming from the controversial circumstances surrounding Ambode’s displacement as governor and denial of a second term in office. However, their recent exchange of pleasantries during Sanwo-Olu’s visit to Ambode’s residence in Epe on the occasion of his birthday indicated a reconciliatory gesture.
