Borno State Governor Babagana Umara Zulum has declined as devastating and lamentatable, last Mondays flood which ravaged many parts of the Maiduguri metropolis.
Zulum who personally visited camps where victims were camped to share in their plights, called for caution and endurance.
The Governor, while sympathizing with the victims assured them of proper care until the water receds and people return to their houses.

“I am disturbed by the calamity that befell us on Monday, resulting from the increased volume. We are doing everything possible to provide relief to our people,” Zulum said.

“We will provide all the necessary relief support to you, and we will ensure you return to your houses as soon as the situation improves for the best,” added.
Our correspondents reports that, many states in the northeast have experienced flood disasters this year which have been attributed to the high volume of rainfall.
While the case of Maiduguri could be attributed to the partial collapse of the embankment on the Alau dam, others were mainly overflows from water estuaries and rivers.
The situation was not different in neighbouring Chad and Cameroon Republics which are also prone to flooding, reports indicate.
The two countries which share common borders with Borno state had their own stories to tell, of devastating floods.
