Food Crises: A/Ibom, Turkiye Firm Seals MoU To Boost Green House Yields
Determined to cushion the effects of the growing food crises on the over 7million population, the Akwa Ibom State Government has sealed a partnership agreement with Turkish investors in a bid to further improve yields from the Green House and enhance agricultural revolution in the state.
Governor Umo Eno gave the indication over the weekend when he stopped to inspect ongoing cultivation work at the Akwa Ibom Green House at large expanse of land within the Victor Attah International Airport, near Uyo, the state capital.
The Governor, who undertook the exercise alongside the representative of Direkci Group, a Turkish firm specializing in Agri-business, said the move is aimed at boosting the state economy and ensuring food security in line with the ‘Arise Agenda’ of his administration.
He said: “Agriculture is the next phase of what we should be doing. We take it very seriously on our ‘Arise Agenda’. I came here before, if you can remember. And I looked at the farm and gave some instructions; we are working on it. But we must get investors.
“I have said that Government is just to set the enabling environment, support new business and allow them to run on a private scale. That’s where you can be sure of having something right.”
Taking a cue from the Ibom Air, which he noted “is a classical example of a business owned hundred percent by the Government, but is into private professional hands where professionalism comes to play,” the Governor stressed that “that is the same thing we believe we must do to this Green House.”
He explained that; “we have here with us an investor, who I have been speaking with. He is doing something very good in Jigawa, wonderful Green Houses, and other businesses he is doing.
“So I had to look at what he is doing in Jigawa state, and invited him. And look, I have bigger space, good weather conditions, even though you don’t need good weather condition in Green Houses, but it will help so you don’t put so much into infrastructures.
“Let him come, look at it and then we will discuss. The intention is that he will bring his team. Some of his engineers are arriving and then they will take a look at everything and give us a proposal, then we will take up from there. That’s why we are here.
On his part, the CEO of Direkci Group, Mr Mehmet Direkci, commended Governor Eno for his visionary leadership and sincere interest in agriculture, adding that his company’s involvement will not only improve yields but will train the people in Agri-business to be able to operate within a certain period.

Pius Akutah’s Alleged Fraud at Nigerian Shippers Council Uncovered
Investigations by Nigerian Concord Newspaper reveal that the Executive Secretary of the Nigerian Shippers Council, Mr. Pius Akutah, has allegedly misappropriated public funds for a lavish lifestyle.
According to our findings, within months of assuming office, Akutah allegedly purchased a bulletproof SUV valued at approximately N850 million. In addition, he is reported to have acquired over twenty exotic SUVs for use as a convoy.
Akutah is also said to have acquired multiple high-value properties, including three in Abuja’s Maitama and Asokoro districts worth over N2 billion, and two in Lagos’ Banana Island valued at N1.8 billion. These acquisitions appear far beyond the scope of his official salary and allowances.
Further investigation suggests that Akutah may be using public funds to support political ambitions, including allegedly grooming militants across 23 local government areas in Benue State for a potential 2027 gubernatorial bid.
Staff of the Shippers Council reportedly claim that Akutah frequently accesses the council’s treasury without proper authorization. Some insiders have indicated that a petition will soon be filed with the EFCC, ICPC, and the Presidency to report his alleged misconduct.
