District 404B1 of the Lions Clubs International in Lagos State has said that its Diabetic Screening Centre at Igando General Hospital undergoing construction will provide succour for many patients when completed.
The District Governor, Mr Bernard Eboreime, said this in Lagos during an interactive session with journalists as part of activities marking the club’s ongoing 4th Convention, tagged: Lagos Amuwo 2020.
He said that club embarked on the project because it was concerned with the health care of the residents of the state.
Eboreime also said that the club had started works on other projects such as the sinking of boreholes as well as the construction and rehabilitation of some schools in the city.
He said that the club would also provide more educational, health and water facilities to the various communities in Lagos state in 2020.

He added that the club regarded it a way of complementing the efforts of the state government.
He said that the convention, holding at Festac Town in Amuwo-Odofin from Jan. 30 to Feb. 2, has as its theme: `Excellence in friendship and service.’
He urged club members for more friendship, stressing that: “only such will push one to make positive impact on communities around them.”
Eboreime said that the district had extended its services to some African countries.
He said that as at December 2019, the clubs had fed no fewer than 200 million people in different parts of the world, including Nigeria.

The Lion Club’s governor said that during the Lagos convention, some people would be empowered.
He added that the club would also educate its members on health issues, the economy and other services they would be expected to carry out during the year.
The Chairperson of the convention, Mrs Patience Ngene, said that the theme was chosen because they wanted to make more friends in Lagos and carry out more services.
Ngene said that the members should think of how to make the world a better place for everyone and for the less privileged ones in particular.
“As Lions and as individuals, let us make time out, try to examine and evaluate the purpose of Excellence in Friendship and Service,” she said.
