Gov. Sule Commends Nasarawa NYSC For Establishing Entrepreneurship Programme

National youth service Corps has been commended for establishing the entrepreneurship programme for the Nigerian youths.

The Nasarawa state Commissioner for youth and sports, Jafa’aru Ango, made the commendation during the swearing in ceremony of 2023 Batch C stream one corps members, held at Magaji Danyamusa permanent Orientation camp, Keffi, Nasarawa State onTuesday.

Representing Governor Abdullahi Sule at the event, the Commissioner Ango lauded the NYSC Scheme for upholding the ideals of its founding fathers, particularly in fostering unity, integration, and development among Nigerian youths through the cultivation of an entrepreneurial mindset.

He emphasized that Nasarawa State is renowned for promoting peaceful coexistence and is blessed with abundant human and natural resources, as well as a rich cultural heritage and agricultural produce that promote healthy enterprise.

“Let me place on record that, Nasarawa State is peaceful so be rest assured of your security, welfare and general well-being. Security is a top priority of my administration as indicated in the robust synergy between the state and the security agencies” he stated.

He continued,” Our relationship with Nasarawa State NYSC management since I came on board under the leadership of Alhaji Abdullahi Jikamshi is very outstanding prompting our amiable and indefatigable governor His Excellency Engineer Abdullahi Sule to always meet up with their necessary needs”

In his submission, the Chairman of Keffi Local Government, Muhammad Baba Shehu, assured the corps members of their safety as adequate security measures had been put in place, urging them to demonstrate dedication in serving their fatherland.

In an address, the Nasarawa State Coordinator of the NYSC, Abdullahi Ahmad Jikamshi, urged the corps members to try their best to do the needfuls during their service year inorder to become resealable leaders of tomorrow.

According to him, the orientation course aims was to equip corps members with practical, social, and leadership skills to face the challenges that lie ahead in their year of service, adding that a total of 1,895 corps members have been deployed to Nasarawa State for their mandatory one-year service.

He expressed appreciation to the state government and other stakeholders for their continued support.

The corps members took the oath of allegiance, administered by the Nasarawa State Chief Judge, Justice Aisha Aliyu Bashir, represented by Justice Muhammad Ramat with a charge on them to reject nepotism and corruption throughout their service year.

Investigations by Nigerian Concord Newspaper reveal that the Executive Secretary of the Nigerian Shippers Council, Mr. Pius Akutah, has allegedly misappropriated public funds for a lavish lifestyle.

According to our findings, within months of assuming office, Akutah allegedly purchased a bulletproof SUV valued at approximately N850 million. In addition, he is reported to have acquired over twenty exotic SUVs for use as a convoy.

Akutah is also said to have acquired multiple high-value properties, including three in Abuja’s Maitama and Asokoro districts worth over N2 billion, and two in Lagos’ Banana Island valued at N1.8 billion. These acquisitions appear far beyond the scope of his official salary and allowances.

Further investigation suggests that Akutah may be using public funds to support political ambitions, including allegedly grooming militants across 23 local government areas in Benue State for a potential 2027 gubernatorial bid.

Staff of the Shippers Council reportedly claim that Akutah frequently accesses the council’s treasury without proper authorization. Some insiders have indicated that a petition will soon be filed with the EFCC, ICPC, and the Presidency to report his alleged misconduct.
