The decision to embrace peace is coming on the premise of the state government’s commitment to the promotion of peaceful co-existence amongst all the ethnic nationalities by committing funds to building bridges of understanding among tribes and religions in the state.

Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Niger state, Alhaji Akilu Musa Kuta stated this at the reconciliatory meeting between farmers and Fulani herdsmen which took place at the District Head of Bosso, Bosso Local Government Area of the state.

Attributing Niger state as a miniature Nigeria with its own challenges which the Governor Sani Bello led government have been managing, Akilu said, “Niger state government have been spending money to promote peaceful co-existence among all the tribes and no amount of money can be said to be too much to guarantee peaceful co-existence”.

Akilu assured the District Head of Bosso, of the state government’s full support to the bold step that saw to the coming together and agreeing to bury their differences for peace to reign by the groups and therefore urged other traditional rulers to emulate him.

Also speaking, the Director-General Nomadic Affairs, Ardo Abdullahi Adamu Babayo stressed the need for a far reaching policy that would put a permanent end to the perennial hostilities between farmers in the country and Fulani herdsmen.

Babayo who attributed the constant clashes between farmers and herdsmen partly to the inciting comments from elites, especially those living in the urban areas called for a change of attitude that would promote, ‘what unites us and to do away with what divide us’, as a people.

District Head of Bosso community, Alhaji Mu’azu Adamu Laka, said the peace meeting was initiated by his palace as a way of safeguarding the area and Niger state as a whole from being used as a theatre of war and bloodletting.

The peace meeting was well attended by representatives of farmers in Niger state, Fulani herdsmen and as well representatives of security agencies and other relevant stakeholders in Niger state.

Investigations by Nigerian Concord Newspaper reveal that the Executive Secretary of the Nigerian Shippers Council, Mr. Pius Akutah, has allegedly misappropriated public funds for a lavish lifestyle.

According to our findings, within months of assuming office, Akutah allegedly purchased a bulletproof SUV valued at approximately N850 million. In addition, he is reported to have acquired over twenty exotic SUVs for use as a convoy.

Akutah is also said to have acquired multiple high-value properties, including three in Abuja’s Maitama and Asokoro districts worth over N2 billion, and two in Lagos’ Banana Island valued at N1.8 billion. These acquisitions appear far beyond the scope of his official salary and allowances.

Further investigation suggests that Akutah may be using public funds to support political ambitions, including allegedly grooming militants across 23 local government areas in Benue State for a potential 2027 gubernatorial bid.

Staff of the Shippers Council reportedly claim that Akutah frequently accesses the council’s treasury without proper authorization. Some insiders have indicated that a petition will soon be filed with the EFCC, ICPC, and the Presidency to report his alleged misconduct.
