IOM To Capture IDPs In Ukum LGA, While Govt To Supply Food And Non Food Items Soon-BSEMA Boss

A team from the International Organization for Migration, IOM, currently in Benue State carrying out biometric data verification capturing exercise for easy administrative purposes will soon visit IDPs in Ukum Local Government Area of the state.
Acting Executive Secretary, Benue State Emergency Management Agency, BSEMA, James Iorpuu made the disclosure when he visited Internally Displaced Person’s, IDPs, at Jootar, Ayati and Kyado all of Ukum Local Government Area to carry out on the spot assessment of humanitarian situation of victims.
The SEMA boss who acknowledged the suffering IDPs in the area were going through said governor Alia was committed to end insecurity in the state, adding that it was out of the same concern that he has directed that food and non food items as well as other intervention packages be sent to the Ukum IDPs by next week.
Iorpuu commended the resident pastor of NKST Church Ayati for accommodating the IDPs, assuring of government determination to end all forms of insecurity.
In a remark, district head of Uyam Joseph Myaga, lamented that many of his subjects and neighbouring communities have been displaced by herdsmen, adding that the humanitarian situation in the area was unbearable, expressing appreciation to the state government for prompt response.
He expressed optimism that visit of SEMA team would cushion hardship through provision of relief materials to the victims while Ter Ukum urged the government to act fast, pointing out that the humanitarian situation was actually very bad.
Investigations by Nigerian Concord Newspaper reveal that the Executive Secretary of the Nigerian Shippers Council, Mr. Pius Akutah, has allegedly misappropriated public funds for a lavish lifestyle.
According to our findings, within months of assuming office, Akutah allegedly purchased a bulletproof SUV valued at approximately N850 million. In addition, he is reported to have acquired over twenty exotic SUVs for use as a convoy.
Akutah is also said to have acquired multiple high-value properties, including three in Abuja’s Maitama and Asokoro districts worth over N2 billion, and two in Lagos’ Banana Island valued at N1.8 billion. These acquisitions appear far beyond the scope of his official salary and allowances.
Further investigation suggests that Akutah may be using public funds to support political ambitions, including allegedly grooming militants across 23 local government areas in Benue State for a potential 2027 gubernatorial bid.
Staff of the Shippers Council reportedly claim that Akutah frequently accesses the council’s treasury without proper authorization. Some insiders have indicated that a petition will soon be filed with the EFCC, ICPC, and the Presidency to report his alleged misconduct.
