In a recent interview with BET UK, Jada Pollock, talent manager and mother of Nigerian singer Wizkid’s children, shared her frustration about being reduced to the label of “baby mama.” Despite her pivotal role in Wizkid’s career, Jada’s efforts often go unrecognized.
Jada began dating Wizkid in 2014, and the couple has two children together, Zion (born 2017) and AJ (born 2022). However, the label has overshadowed her entrepreneurial contributions. She recalled her response to Wizkid’s Grammy win, where she wrote a statement celebrating the rise of Afrobeat. Unfortunately, the media reduced her achievement to her relationship with Wizkid, labeling her as “Wizkid’s baby mama.”
She explained, “The narrative doesn’t recognize that I’m an entrepreneur and a hardworking businesswoman. I’ve helped build a legacy.” Jada’s frustration stems from the constant minimization of her professional work, despite her integral role in Afrobeat’s success.
Nigerian singer Skales recently revealed his strained relationship with Wizkid. In a podcast interview, Skales claimed that Wizkid never liked him and recounted a heated social media clash where the ‘Ojuelegba’ singer insulted his family. Despite attempts to reconcile, Skales says Wizkid remained adamant.
