The Kano State Government has initiated fresh legal action against Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje, the immediate past Governor of the state and National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress. The case, with Case No. K/143c/24, has Ganduje and his former Commissioner for Justice, Musa Lawan, listed as the 1st and 2nd defendants, respectively.
According to the charge sheet obtained by The Punch, they are accused of several offenses including Criminal Conspiracy, Criminal Breach of Trust, and Criminal Misappropriation under the Penal Code of Kano State.
The charges allege that they “dishonestly, fraudulently and without reasonable justification, in the abuse of [their] respective offices, conspired between [themselves], misappropriated, diverted and converted the sum of Two Hundred and Forty Million Naira to finance the purely personal and private case for [their] own personal and private benefit thereby causing wrongful gain to [themselves] and wrongful loss to the Government and people of Kano State.”
The prosecution plans to present four witnesses and intends to demonstrate that Ganduje, leveraging his position as Governor, misused public funds to secure a legal order against the EFCC’s investigation into bribery and corruption allegations against him.
No trial date has been set yet for the case.
