Governor Dikko Umaru Radda of Katsina State has disclosed that a new community development programme designed to address the specific needs of the rural populace is underway.

Governor Radda disclosed this during a meeting with the All Progressives Congress APC candidates vying for the state’s local council chairman positions at the Katsina Government House on Thursday.

The Katsina Governor emphasised the importance of public service, urging the candidates to dedicate themselves to serving their communities to the best of their abilities. He also stressed the need for all projects and programmes to directly benefit the “common man” and improve the lives of ordinary citizens.

“By prioritizing the well-being of our rural communities, “you will earn the respect and trust of the electorate, leading to a stronger and more united Katsina State,” Governor Radda stated.

He also encouraged the candidates to foster collaboration. “Always carry along your opponents, party officials, and other stakeholders. Working together is key to achieving progress in your respective areas,” he advised.

Governor Radda made the remarks following a statement from the APC state chairman, Alhaji Sani Ahmed Daura, delivered by his deputy, Bala Abu Musawa. The Chairman explained that the APC candidates sought the Governor’s guidance on effectively engaging with the people ahead of the local government elections.

Mr. Musawa also acknowledged recent tensions within the party. “We recognize that some party members were offended during the last local government primary election,” he said. “Our committee has visited all 34 local governments to address these concerns and promote party unity.”

Earlier, the Chief of Staff, Government House, Alhaji Jabiru Abdullahi Tasuri, pointed out the purpose of the visit. “This meeting allows the APC candidates to express their gratitude to the Governor for ensuring a fair and transparent primary election process,” Mr. Tasuri stated.

The Katsina State Government remains committed to fostering collaboration and a people-centered approach to development. The upcoming community development programme reflects this commitment and aims to empower local communities and improve the lives of Katsina residents throughout the state.
