Katsina Governor’s Wife Initiates Foreign Scholarships for 50 Students

Hajiya Zulaihat Radda, the Wife of the Governor of Katsina State, has unveiled plans to secure foreign scholarships for 50 deserving students from the state. She made this announcement during the final of the Inter-Schools Science Practical Quiz and Debate Competition organized by the Ash-shifa Social Development, Education, and Health Awareness Initiative.

As the state coordinator of the Renewed Hope Agenda, a pet project of Sen. Remi Tinubu, the governor’s wife disclosed that she has already distributed 50 scholarship forms to qualified students across Katsina State. These scholarships aim to provide opportunities for higher education abroad, with winners expected to receive $7,000 each upon successful completion of an aptitude test in Abuja.

Additionally, Hajiya Zulaihat Radda assured that 500 scholarship forms have been secured and distributed to Katsina indigenes for studies in higher institutions within Nigeria. She highlighted her personal commitment to education by sponsoring a student currently studying in Belarus.

Acknowledging the administration’s dedication to education, she emphasized its investment in various educational initiatives, including sponsoring students to study medicine in Egypt and providing scholarships to law graduates attending law school.

The governor’s wife commended the NGO for organizing the competition, emphasizing its importance in promoting academic excellence and nurturing future leaders. She stressed the significance of engaging students in science practical quizzes and debates to foster critical thinking and practical skills essential for success in the modern world.

Malam Abdullahi Jibril, the Executive Director of the NGO, emphasized the importance of focusing on science education to complement the government’s efforts. He highlighted the competition as a platform to identify students’ challenges in practical science and suggested possible government intervention.

The event concluded with the presentation of trophies, cash prizes to winners, and awards to individuals for their contributions to education development in Katsina State.
