LASU Law Students Triumph in National Competition, Outshining 52 Other Universities

Law students from Lagos State University (LASU) have emerged victorious in the National Inter Faculty Competition, clinching the top position in a challenging contest that saw participation from universities nationwide. Organized by Redeemers University in Osun State, the competition witnessed intense competition among various academic institutions.

The achievement was proudly announced by the LASU handle on X on May 4, 2024, via their official Twitter account, @LASUOfficial.

Titled ‘The Legal and Ethical Implication of Emerging Technology,’ the competition encompassed diverse segments including essay writing, asynchronous debate, memorial writing, and mooting stages. Each stage posed unique challenges, testing participants’ analytical skills, problem-solving capabilities, and collaborative spirit.

Representing LASU in the essay writing segment was Kodjovi Daniel, while Aina Ayomide and Abdulquadri Ajeniya showcased their prowess in the debate stage. Bolajoko Animasaun and Akinrinde Fredrick excelled in the final rounds, making LASU proud.

Commenting on the remarkable victory, Akinwunmi David, President of the Student Advocate Association at LASU, lauded the students’ hard work, dedication, and intellectual brilliance. He emphasized that their success underscores the institution’s commitment to nurturing exceptional talent.

In addition to this achievement, LASU previously secured victory in the southwest inter-tertiary debate organized by the National Association of Nigerian Students. The competition, themed ‘Clash of Thoughts,’ featured participants from prominent universities across the region.

Meanwhile, Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, honored LASU’s outstanding student, Aminat Yusuf, who graduated with a perfect Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 5.0 from the Faculty of Law during the 2021/2022 academic session. In recognition of her remarkable academic performance, Governor Sanwo-Olu announced a reward of N10 million, comprising a personal donation of N5 million and an additional N5 million from the state government.

This achievement not only reflects the exceptional caliber of students at LASU but also highlights the institution’s commitment to academic excellence and overall development.
