Military Operations Yield Major Successes: 106 Terrorists Eliminated, 103 Hostages Rescued

Abuja — The Defence Headquarters (DHQ) reported substantial achievements from military operations across Nigeria over the past week. The operations led to the elimination of 106 terrorists, the apprehension of 164 individuals, and the rescue of 103 hostages. A significant cache of weapons and ammunition was also recovered.

Detailed Breakdown of Operations:

• North East Region:
• Terrorist Neutralizations: 41 Boko Haram/ISWAP terrorists were neutralized.
• Surrenders: 1,760 Boko Haram/ISWAP fighters and their families, including 117 adult males, 345 adult females, and 628 children, surrendered.
• Arrests: 27 suspects were apprehended.
• Hostage Rescues: 16 kidnapped individuals were freed.
• Weaponry Recovered: The troops seized 21 AK47 rifles, 14 fabricated pistols, 15 Dane guns, and a significant amount of ammunition.
• North Central Region:
• Terrorist Neutralizations: 12 insurgents were eliminated.
• Arrests: 39 violent extremists were detained.
• Hostage Rescues: 39 kidnapped individuals were rescued.
• Weaponry Recovered: The recovery included 21 AK47 rifles, 14 fabricated pistols, and 285 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition.
• North West Region:
• Terrorist Neutralizations: 22 terrorists were neutralized.
• Arrests: 23 terrorists were arrested.
• Hostage Rescues: 32 kidnapped individuals were rescued.
• Weaponry Recovered: The troops also seized several weapons and ammunition.
• Niger Delta Region:
• Crude Oil Recovery: 802,200 liters of stolen crude oil were recovered, along with 121,900 liters of illegally refined AGO and 450 liters of DPK.
• Destruction of Illegal Facilities: The military destroyed 20 dugout pits, 24 boats, 34 storage tanks, 56 cooking ovens, 2 speedboats, 14 pumping machines, 18 drums, and 22 vehicles and motorcycles.
• Suspected Oil Thieves Apprehended: 32 individuals involved in illegal activities were arrested.
• South East Region:
• Terrorist Neutralizations: 3 terrorists were neutralized.
• Arrests: 22 violent extremists were detained.
• Hostage Rescues: 4 kidnapped individuals were rescued.
• Weaponry Recovered: The recovered items included one pump action gun, 31 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition, 23 cartridges, and six mobile phones.

The military’s ongoing operations across various regions have not only neutralized a significant number of terrorists but also made substantial recoveries of weapons and ammunition. The successful rescue of hostages and destruction of illegal refining facilities highlight the military’s continued efforts to combat terrorism and criminal activities throughout the country.
