Motorists, residents urge Sanwo-Olu to speedily complete road projects

Motorists and residents in Epe/Ibeju-Lekki Local Government Area of Lagos State have appealed to Gov. Babajide Sanwo-Olu to speedily complete the Epe/Ibeju-lekki Expressway.
They made the appeal in separate interviews with our correspondent in Epe on Thursday.
Motorists and residents showed excitement at the ongoing construction work on Epe/Ibeju-Lekki Road and urged speedy completion of the projects to ease the hardship they were experiencing on the road.
our correspondent reports that the Lagos State Government has said that the 18.7km, six-lane rigid pavement carriageway from Eleko Junction in Ibeju-Lekki to Epe T-Junction would be completed and inaugurated in the first quarter of 2022.
our correspondent also reports that massive construction works are ongoing at Eleko, Ibeju, Bogije, Oke-ogun and Epe, among other places.
A motorist, Mr Wariz Oludegun, commended the state government for its conscious efforts to provide good and quality road networks for the residents.
“We will appreciate the speedy completion of the project, to ease vehicular movement in that axis.
“Development comes with its own challenges, the traffic and one-lane issue we are experiencing is affecting our business.
“The road contractors are still working on one-lane while the other lanes are abandoned,’’ he said.
A resident, Mrs Alimat Ajongba, lamented the slow pace of work.
“I pray the road contractors meet the mandate and directive of of the state governor, ” she said.
Mr Yusuf Atoyegbe, another resident, expressed satisfaction at the construction work and expressed appreciation to the state government for a job well done.
He urged motorists and commuters to be patient and to cooperate with government on the ongoing projects.
“Nothing good comes easy. It is a matter of sacrifice which comes with pains, but at the end, it will end in praises, ” he said.
Atoyegbe expressed optimism about the quick completion of the projects.
He said that with the speed the contractors were working day and night, the projects would be delivered on time.
A motorist, Mr Olumide Adelaja, applauded the developmental projects and urged the government to speed up their completion.
“We will all enjoy the route upon completion of the road projects, but it has not been easy for us, commercial drivers.
“The journey of one hour now takes about three hours due to the road construction.
“Before now, we ply the Epe-Ajah road nine times in a day, but today, we hardly do four round trips in a day.
“It is really telling on our business, but we appreciate the development the road projects will bring to both residents and other road users,” he said.

Pius Akutah’s Alleged Fraud at Nigerian Shippers Council Uncovered
Investigations by Nigerian Concord Newspaper reveal that the Executive Secretary of the Nigerian Shippers Council, Mr. Pius Akutah, has allegedly misappropriated public funds for a lavish lifestyle.
According to our findings, within months of assuming office, Akutah allegedly purchased a bulletproof SUV valued at approximately N850 million. In addition, he is reported to have acquired over twenty exotic SUVs for use as a convoy.
Akutah is also said to have acquired multiple high-value properties, including three in Abuja’s Maitama and Asokoro districts worth over N2 billion, and two in Lagos’ Banana Island valued at N1.8 billion. These acquisitions appear far beyond the scope of his official salary and allowances.
Further investigation suggests that Akutah may be using public funds to support political ambitions, including allegedly grooming militants across 23 local government areas in Benue State for a potential 2027 gubernatorial bid.
Staff of the Shippers Council reportedly claim that Akutah frequently accesses the council’s treasury without proper authorization. Some insiders have indicated that a petition will soon be filed with the EFCC, ICPC, and the Presidency to report his alleged misconduct.
