The National Agency for the Control of AIDS (NACA) has issued a statement urging Nigerians to prioritize their safety and well-being during the Valentine’s season, emphasizing the importance of protection while expressing affection.
In a statement signed by Toyin Aderibigbe, the Head of the Public Relations and Protocol unit of the agency, NACA encouraged individuals to adopt a comprehensive approach to love, including open communication, mutual respect, and responsible choices.
Dr. Gambo Aliyu, the Director General of NACA, emphasized the need for people to enjoy Valentine’s Day while prioritizing their well-being. He urged the public to incorporate protection into intimate moments, undergo regular HIV testing, and engage in conversations about sexual health with their partners.
Aliyu highlighted that these measures contribute not only to personal health but also to the broader goal of building safer and healthier communities. He acknowledged the power of love and encouraged embracing responsible practices to ensure that love enriches lives without compromising health.
