NCC Grants Additional Time for Hackathon Application Submissions

The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) has announced an extension of the application submission deadline for the 2023 Talent Hunt via Hackathon. The new deadline for submissions is now September 30th.

In a statement released by Reuben Muoka, the Director of Public Affairs, the extension aims to provide additional time for prospective startups to refine their solutions and ensure they meet the submission requirements. This extension also encourages more emerging technology entrepreneurs to participate in the competition.

The NCC views the talent hunt as a crucial component of its Strategic Vision Plan 2023–2025. It plays a pivotal role in promoting the development of new technologies and indigenous content through cutting-edge research, fostering sustainable economic growth, and contributing to Nigeria’s overall development.

As part of this initiative, the NCC has invited tech hubs and innovation-driven enterprises across the country to register their startups and innovative solutions for the third edition of the NCC Talent Hunt Research conducted through a hackathon. The focus areas for this edition include:

1. Blockchain-enabled data protection solutions to enhance regulatory compliance.
2. Assistive technology solutions designed for the elderly and individuals with disabilities.
3. Technology solutions aimed at renewable energy applications in rural areas.

The NCC Talent Hunt Research through Hackathon harnesses the power of emerging digital technologies to facilitate the development of innovative homegrown solutions and the creation of local content within the telecommunications sector. This, in turn, contributes to economic growth and social progress in Nigeria.
