Nigeria and India Explore Green Industrial Development Partnership

Chief Ajuri Ngelale, Special Presidential Envoy on Climate Action, announced that the Indian High Commissioner to Nigeria, Mr. Shri Balasubramanian, visited him at the State House on Wednesday.

In a statement, Ngelale detailed discussions with the administration of Prime Minister Narendra Modi about new opportunities for green industrial partnerships. He highlighted Modi’s administration as one of the world’s leading proponents of green industrial development.

“We have agreed on actionable next steps at a time when the two most populous democracies in Asia and Africa share many aspirations for their economies now and in the future,” Ngelale stated.

Ngelale also mentioned his discussions with the Governor of Nasarawa State, Abdullahi Sule, about establishing Africa’s first eco-industrial park, Evergreen City.

Joined by the Managing Director of the Infrastructure Corporation of Nigeria (InfraCorp), Dr. Lazarus Angbazo, Ngelale reported significant progress and a set of deliverable, time-bound next steps for the project.
