Nigerians Embrace AI for Creativity and Career Advancement, Google Trends Show

Recent data from Google reveals a significant surge in interest among Nigerians for Artificial Intelligence (AI) to enhance creativity and advance their careers. AI-related searches in Nigeria have soared by 130% compared to the previous year, highlighting a growing fascination with this transformative technology.

Olumide Balogun, West Africa Director at Google, commented on the trend, stating, “AI offers a multitude of opportunities, from innovative breakthroughs to everyday applications, driving social and economic progress. It’s no surprise that Nigerians are eager to leverage this technology to boost their careers and creativity.”

Globally, interest in AI is on the rise, and Nigeria is keeping pace. Searches for “what is AI” have increased by over 30%, while inquiries into “how to use AI” have surged by 40%. This enthusiasm places Nigeria as the sixth highest country in Africa and the 25th globally in terms of search interest in AI.

The data also shows a remarkable increase in searches related to using AI for creative and professional purposes. Searches for terms like “create a logo with AI,” “create a CV with AI,” “design a website with AI,” and “create slides with AI” have surged by over 5,000% since last year. This indicates a significant shift towards utilizing AI tools to streamline creative processes and improve job-related tasks.

Additionally, the interest in learning about AI is growing. Searches for AI courses have risen by 50%, with queries about the difficulty of learning AI and how to access educational resources reflecting a strong desire to acquire AI skills.
