It is a known fact that Rt. Hon. Benjamin Kalu has always been bold, courageous and outspoken in the defence of his values. He is always consistent with facts. Maya Angelou a celebrated poet wrote, ” One isn’t necessarily born with courage, but one is born with potential. Without courage, we cannot practice any other virtue with consistency. We can’t be kind, true, merciful, merciful, generous or honest”.

Yesterday, 18th, August, 2023, the Deputy Speaker, Rt. Hon. Benjamin Kalu granted an interview to an online media outfit where he discussed a range of issues, but what particularly caught the attention of the media and political actors was his stance that an APC Governor will occupy Abia government house in 2027. What is wrong in the Honorable Deputy Speaker expressing his desire to bring Abia into the mainstream of National politics? Rt. Hon. Benjamin Kalu has always championed the politics of inclusivity, he has never shyed away from working hard to better the lot of his constituency, state and region.

Rt. Hon Benjamin Kalu has been consistent to his core values, however, it is imperative to notify the idle and do-nothing Member Representing Ikwuano/Umuahia Federal constituency at the National Assembly that the Deputy Speaker has maintained cordial relationships with Governors of Abia state irrespective of political divide, but has never failed to impress on them his utmost desire for Abia State to align with the APC political mainstream.

The Deputy Speaker is a proud member of the APC, he performed exceptionally well for the good people of Bende Federal Constituency to overwhelmingly send him back to the House of Representatives for a second time. It is on record that even as a first timer, Bende Federal Constituency recoded tremendous human capital and infrastructural development attracted by Rt. Hon Benjamin Kalu. Who is Obi Aguocha ?

Conversely, an unknown quantity by name Obi Aguocha whose only notable achievement in life is being a one time President General of Ohuhu Development Union, cannot stand in the shadows of Rt. Hon. Benjamin Kalu, if the so-called Obi wave didn’t crest him into the National Assembly. Now, Aguocha has found himself in the House of Representatives what has he done for his people, not even the bags of Rice given to members by APC Federal Government as palliative got to his constituency of Ikwuano/Umuahia. Aguocha has not given a single appointment, he has been swallowed by National politics which is a big stage.

Furthermore, Obi Aguocha is an incompetent fellow who got elected into the National Assembly by stroke of luck and Mr. Peter Obi. Regrettably, ever since he got elected into the National Assembly has been battling to make a mark, his Constituents have initiated a recall process because of his shamefully abysmal representation.

Therefore, the good people of Ikwuano/Umuahia Federal constituency will never see any dividend of democracy from the never-do-well Obi Aguocha who has taken residence in an Abuja hotel, harping on the belief that another Peter Obi wave or magic will happen to send him back to the House of Representatives despite his lacklustre first outing. While other members of the National Assembly from Abia State are making efforts, Obi Aguocha is running around Nvosi the home town of Governor Alex Otti.

Obi Aguocha needs to be schooled properly on the recall process, which can only be initiated by his Constituents as he is currently facing, whereas the good people of Bende Federal Constituency are very much happy with their son, Rt. Hon Benjamin Kalu. Just recently the Deputy Speaker received a number of decampees into his party which is a testament of how popular and well received he is in Bende.

Consequently, the Deputy Speaker, Rt. Hon.Benjamin Kalu reserves the right to express his resolve for his political party to take over Abia government house come 2027, he is well within his rights also to open doors for interested members to join, even the Governor of Abia state. Those who expected him to become brand ambassador of any other party than his own political party are mere jokers.
