Ohanaeze Mourns Professor Ben Nwabueze

Apex lgbo Socio-cultural organisation, Ohanaeze Ndigbo worldwide, has expressed sadness over the passage of professor Ben Nwabueze.
Ohanaeze said the entire Igbo-speaking states in Anioma, Delta State, Ikwerre in River State, have lost a visionary leader, an academic luminary, and an unwavering advocate for the Igbo cause.
Nwabueze, was Born on December 22nd, 1931,in the tranquil town of Atani, Ogbaru LGA of Anambra State.
A statement signed by Ohanaeze’s Secretary-general, Mazi Okechukwu lsiguzoro, stated that Nwabueze’s journey in life was marked by unyielding dedication to the pursuit of knowledge, justice, and the upliftment of the Igbo people.
According to Ohanaeze, Nwabueze’s prodigious intellect and profound understanding of the law, he blazed trails as Nigeria’s first academic Senior Advocate of Nigeria in 1978 and served as the Minister of Education, left an indelible mark on the educational landscape of Nigeria.
The statement read in part” A prolific writer, Professor Ben Nwabueze authored over 30 books and contributed over 200 articles to esteemed academic journals, enriching the discourse on legal, constitutional, and socio-political matters. Through his intellectual prowess, he fearlessly championed the cause of the Igbo people, ensuring their voices resonated across the nation.
“Alongside other prominent Igbo sons such as Rt Hon Francis Akanu Ibiam, Dr. M.I Okpara, Chief K.O Mbadiwe, Chief Ugochukwu, P.N Okigbo, and Jerome Udoji, he co-founded Ohanaeze Ndigbo in 1976.
“From 1978 to 2004, Professor Ben Nwabueze served as the Secretary-General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, a position through which he transformed the organization into a formidable, highly respected nonpartisan Pan Igbo pressure group. His unwavering commitment to the advancement of the Igbo cause endeared him to the hearts of countless compatriots, both within and outside the Igbo nation.
“His contributions to the development of constitutional law earned him the well-deserved recognition of various chieftaincy titles and the prestigious Nigerian Order of Merit.
“In honor of this noble soul who reshaped and remodeled Ohanaeze Ndigbo into a respected organization, the Igbo people will observe four traditional market days of mourning.We implore all well-meaning individuals, organizations, and governments to join us in paying tribute to this extraordinary icon of our time.
The organisation urged President BolaTinubu, to immortalized the memory of Professor Ben Nwabueze by naming him after one of the newly approved Federal Universities.
While also calling on the South-east Governors to rename the Ohanaeze Ndigbo Secretariat after him, as a testament to his invaluable contributions to the progress of Igbo nation

Pius Akutah’s Alleged Fraud at Nigerian Shippers Council Uncovered
Investigations by Nigerian Concord Newspaper reveal that the Executive Secretary of the Nigerian Shippers Council, Mr. Pius Akutah, has allegedly misappropriated public funds for a lavish lifestyle.
According to our findings, within months of assuming office, Akutah allegedly purchased a bulletproof SUV valued at approximately N850 million. In addition, he is reported to have acquired over twenty exotic SUVs for use as a convoy.
Akutah is also said to have acquired multiple high-value properties, including three in Abuja’s Maitama and Asokoro districts worth over N2 billion, and two in Lagos’ Banana Island valued at N1.8 billion. These acquisitions appear far beyond the scope of his official salary and allowances.
Further investigation suggests that Akutah may be using public funds to support political ambitions, including allegedly grooming militants across 23 local government areas in Benue State for a potential 2027 gubernatorial bid.
Staff of the Shippers Council reportedly claim that Akutah frequently accesses the council’s treasury without proper authorization. Some insiders have indicated that a petition will soon be filed with the EFCC, ICPC, and the Presidency to report his alleged misconduct.
