Over 4,500 APC Members Defect to NNPP in Bauchi
By Sule Aliyu, Bauchi
Over 4,500 members of All Progressives Congress (APC) and Green Party of Nigeria (GPN) supporters in Bauchi state defected to the New Nigeria People Party (NNPP).
According to them, their defection to the new party was aimed at dislodging the ruling APC in the state in 2019.
National trail reports that the Green Party recently got a boost when a former governor of the state, Malam Isa Yuguda, alongside his loyalists joined it after dumping the PDP.
The defectors to NNPP, led by a 2015 senatorial candidate under the platform of PDP, Umar Farouk, were mostly from Bauchi North Senatorial District and included supporters of Yuguda who is from Bauchi South.
They were received by the state Chairman of NNPP Engineer Mohammed Barde during inauguration of the Bauchi South office in Azare Town Katagum Local Area and a grand reception organized to receive the defectors.
Barde said members that defected were at least 4,500 in number, adding that they were card-carrying members of the APC and Green Party before their defection today Saturday to NNPP.
The Chairman pledged to carry them along to ensure justice and fairness among all members and make the party to become strongest opposition party in the state and the country.
Engineer Mohammed pointed out that NNPP is the strongest opposition party in the state with good intentions to serve the people and save the citizens from anti democracy oriented parties.
He described the development as a great victory for NNPP and democracy in the state.”We are happy to see this breakthrough to receive such personalities under NNPP umbrella, stressing that they would be up and doing to embrace them with all honesty”.
He also called on the NNPP supporters to be more committed in moving the party forward, “we are not going to tolerate any discrimination against our new members”.
The Leader of the defectors Hon. Umar Farouk said they decided to defect to the NNPP because they were not getting dividends of democracy at the state level and the party is a youth driven party.
Farouk said that we resolved to move to NNPP after many consultations we come to understand that there is no strong opposition party like NNPP in the state the number of developmental projects.
Prominent among the defectors includes Alhaji Audu Mai Auduga from Bauchi South, Hon. Umar Farouk from Bauchi North and Alhaji Ibrahim Shetima Gamawa among others.

Pius Akutah’s Alleged Fraud at Nigerian Shippers Council Uncovered
Investigations by Nigerian Concord Newspaper reveal that the Executive Secretary of the Nigerian Shippers Council, Mr. Pius Akutah, has allegedly misappropriated public funds for a lavish lifestyle.
According to our findings, within months of assuming office, Akutah allegedly purchased a bulletproof SUV valued at approximately N850 million. In addition, he is reported to have acquired over twenty exotic SUVs for use as a convoy.
Akutah is also said to have acquired multiple high-value properties, including three in Abuja’s Maitama and Asokoro districts worth over N2 billion, and two in Lagos’ Banana Island valued at N1.8 billion. These acquisitions appear far beyond the scope of his official salary and allowances.
Further investigation suggests that Akutah may be using public funds to support political ambitions, including allegedly grooming militants across 23 local government areas in Benue State for a potential 2027 gubernatorial bid.
Staff of the Shippers Council reportedly claim that Akutah frequently accesses the council’s treasury without proper authorization. Some insiders have indicated that a petition will soon be filed with the EFCC, ICPC, and the Presidency to report his alleged misconduct.
