What I will be in 2019 is in the hands of God-Fmr Gov Aliyu BY MAIRIGA Juliana, Minna Former Governor of Niger state, Dr. Mu’azu Babangida Aliyu has said what he would become or where he will be in 2019 is in the hands of God but that he would prefer working to ensure that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) bounces back stronger ahead of the next political dispensation. The former Governor has described the annulment of the election that gave the incumbent President of Kenya, Mr. Uhuru Kenyata as a lesson for politicians in third world countries, including Nigeria who may try to manipulate election results to their advantage in the future. Aliyu has equally absolved the now major opposition PDP of blames in the loss of the Anambra state PDP Governorship ticket to Mr. Oseloka Obaze by Mr. Ifeanyi Uba, insisting that Uba’s defeat may not be unconnected with his movements from one political platform to another. The former Governor made the declaration when he spoke to journalists on the political situation in the country in Minna, saying, “What happened in Kenya is a lesson for other African countries to learn from”. Aliyu also said he is happy that President Muhammadu Buhari is back to continue in office against wild speculations about his health conditions. “I am happy the President is back, it was becoming as if everything is stagnant but now things have started picking up”. Babangida however said he will not be in a hurry to open up on what he will be doing or where he will be ahead of the 2019 political dispensation but would be glad in supporting moves to bring the PDP back stronger for the next election. “I will not be in a hurry talking about what I will become or where I will be in 2019. It will be my greatest joy seeing that the PDP comes back stronger”, Aliyu said, adding that his plan is to support moves to build bridges of understanding within the ranks of party. In the case of Anambra PDP primaries, Babandiga Aliyu said the people of Anambra decided to support Obaze over what they may have seen about Uba, arguing that the PDP to the best of his knowledge has no hands in the loss. Babangida Aliyu said he is aware that Uba defected to the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC), before returning back to the PDP, adding that the constitution of the party made it clear for anybody who leaves the platform and later returns.
