The Federal Fire Service has taken a significant step to boost firefighting efforts in Plateau State by deploying a Rapid Response firefighting vehicle to the State Command. This move aims to ensure swift and effective responses to fire incidents across the state.
During the inauguration of the vehicle at the Government House in Jos, Governor Caleb Mutfwang expressed his commitment to revitalizing the State Fire Service for improved performance. He thanked the Director General of the Federal Fire Service for the valuable contribution and pledged continuous support to enhance firefighting operations in Plateau State.
According to a statement by Mutfwang’s Director of Press and Public Affairs, Gyang Bere, the deployment of the firefighting vehicle serves as a catalyst for a comprehensive review of firefighting mechanisms in the state. The government aims to elevate firefighting standards through increased funding, advanced training, and the provision of modern equipment.
Acting Controller of the Federal Fire Service in Plateau State, Mr. Tanfa Bonkat, highlighted that Plateau State was selected as one of 15 states nationwide to receive the state-of-the-art firefighting vehicle. He emphasized the vehicle’s modern features, including a 500-litre water tank and a 10-litre tank for chemicals, as well as its adaptability to diverse terrains.
Bonkat also outlined plans for the strategic deployment of the vehicle in high-risk areas prone to fire outbreaks, further enhancing the state’s firefighting capabilities.
