A plumber, Olamide Olushola was on Friday docked in a Grade I Area Court in Karu, Abuja, for allegedly cheating a client of N193, 600.
The police charged Olushola, 39, who resides in Jikwoyi phase III, Karu, Abuja with Criminal breach of trust, cheating, Criminal misappropriation and jumping Police Administrative Bail.
The Prosecution Counsel, Ade Adeyanju, told the court that on Feb. 7, the defendant was entrusted with the sum of N193, 600 to purchase overhead tank and plumbing materials, instead he converted the money to his own use.
Adeyanju said the defendant was released on administrative bail but he jumped the bail and his surety got arrested.
He said during police investigation, on Aug. 23 the defendant was found and re-arrested.
He said the Matter was reported at Karu Police station by the complainant, Dr Akindele A. O. of FEPA quarters, Karu, Abuja.
The prosecutor said, the offence contravened the provisions of section 312, 322 and 309 of the Penal Code.
The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.
The Judge, Mr Inuwa Maiwada, admitted the defendant to bail in the sum of N500, 000 with two sureties each in like sum.
Maiwada said the sureties must provide means of Identification and address must be verified by the court registry.
He adjourned the case until Nov. 9 for mention.
