Poets, Spoken Word Artists Gather for a Special Valentine Program

Splendors of Dawn Poetry Foundation in collaboration with the Abuja Literary Society (ALS) and the World Poetry Movement (WPM) hosted a Special Valentine of Music and Poetry tagged “Love is Collaboration.”

According to organizers of the program, Love is Collaboration a poetry event aimed at having poets connect and collaborate on poetry, to show and talk about the wonder of love.

Speaking in an interview with newsmen, Director Splendors of Dawn Poetry Foundation and Nigeria’s Coordinator of World Poetry Movement Mr Odoh Diego Okenyodo said Abuja Literary Society has been the most promoter of literature in Abuja.

According to him Association of Nigerian Authors and Splendors of Dawn believes in collaborating and amplifying the voices of different literary groups and poets.this he said is key to bringing together different poets under one platform and also promote peace harmony and peaceful co existence.
In so doing different poets bring out their different thought processes through their poems.

Mr Diego noted that plans are on ground to start visiting schools in the North-East,parts of the South and Niger Delta to create an avenue for people to express what they feel especially with the resent happenings in the country.

Also Administrative Assistant, ALS Onyiye Amudoh in her own contribution described love as multi faceted and artist through love can create beautiful piece of work.
She said majority of their members are youths who use their platform as a means of expressing themselves and due to the fact that the Avenue is free it enables them Forster their creative feelings through poetry,spoken words and essays.

Miss Amudoh further noted that because of the value of the organizations ,the Abuja Literary Society always promotes itself without needing much publicity.

Meanwhile A-Poet Deji Ige who presented a poem which centers on the beauty of love said young people are fascinated by words and through his poem he is able to pass messages which are of interest to them.
He noted that valentine is about a love that is misconstrued in-order words,love is beyond what people term it as but should be about selflessness.
To him valentine is love at it utmost purity,a love for family,friends and oneself.

Performances at the evening are renowned Nigerian poets, spoken word artists and good music as well as a night of giving love and networking among legendary poets and upcoming artists.
