In Bauchi State, over 22,000 individuals have applied for enlistment into the Nigeria Police Force as part of the ongoing Constable recruitment. The applicants, representing all 20 Local Government Areas (LGAs) of the state, are currently undergoing screening at the Police Training School (PTS) in Bauchi. The screening is being conducted by various government agencies, including the Police Service Commission (PSC), Federal Character Commission (FCC), Ministry of Police Affairs, Bauchi State Office of the Head of Service, State Civil Service Commission, and Police Training department.

The screening process involves the verification of credentials, height and chest measurements, as well as semi-medical observations to assess the health condition of the applicants in preparation for the subsequent training phase after shortlisting.

Assistant Chief in the Police Service Commission, Angulu N. Kadiri, who spoke to journalists at the screening venue, expressed optimism that the exercise, which started on Monday, will be completed as scheduled. He assured that every eligible applicant with the required documents will undergo the screening process. Kadiri commended the Bauchi State Government and the State Police Command for their support and cooperation during the exercise.

Regarding the number of recruits for Bauchi State, Kadiri could not provide a specific figure but stated, “One thing that is sure is that Bauchi state will get the number allotted to it. Each state has a number to be recruited; Bauchi State is not an exception.”

A representative of the Ministry of Police Affairs, Abdulrahman Sule Katagum, emphasized the Ministry’s commitment to overseeing the exercise’s successful conduct. He assured that the recruitment process in Bauchi State would adhere to due process, with only qualified applicants proceeding to the next stage.

All relevant government departments present at the exercise pledged to follow due process to ensure the selection of qualified individuals for recruitment into the Nigeria Police Force.

Investigations by Nigerian Concord Newspaper reveal that the Executive Secretary of the Nigerian Shippers Council, Mr. Pius Akutah, has allegedly misappropriated public funds for a lavish lifestyle.

According to our findings, within months of assuming office, Akutah allegedly purchased a bulletproof SUV valued at approximately N850 million. In addition, he is reported to have acquired over twenty exotic SUVs for use as a convoy.

Akutah is also said to have acquired multiple high-value properties, including three in Abuja’s Maitama and Asokoro districts worth over N2 billion, and two in Lagos’ Banana Island valued at N1.8 billion. These acquisitions appear far beyond the scope of his official salary and allowances.

Further investigation suggests that Akutah may be using public funds to support political ambitions, including allegedly grooming militants across 23 local government areas in Benue State for a potential 2027 gubernatorial bid.

Staff of the Shippers Council reportedly claim that Akutah frequently accesses the council’s treasury without proper authorization. Some insiders have indicated that a petition will soon be filed with the EFCC, ICPC, and the Presidency to report his alleged misconduct.
