Police rescue 6 kidnapped victims in Kaduna
The Police Command in Kaduna State, says its operatives have rescued six kidnapped victims, along Barde/Keffi Road in Kafanchan Local Government Area (LGA), of the state.
The Command’s Public Relations Officer, Mohammed Jalige, confirmed the incident in a statement on Thursday in Kaduna.
Jalige said that on Oct. 5, operatives of the command, on receipt of report of a kidnapping incident that occurred on Oct. 4, at about 18:30hrs, along Barde/Keffi Road, “cautiously and tactically trailed and caught up with the bandits in the forest.”
He said the operatives engaged the kidnappers in a gun duel, forcing them to abandon their victims and scampered into the forest with bullet wounds.
He said six of the kidnapped victims were successfully rescued unhurt.
Jalige said that the victims had been debriefed and subsequently reunited with their respective families.
“Concerted efforts are on high gear with a view to apprehending the fleeing bandits,” he said.
The PRO also said the officers, alongside the army Operation Puff Adder II, on Oct. 2, acting on credible intelligence stormed Yadi forest in Fatika District of Giwa LGA, and engaged bandits in a fierce gun battle.
He said one of the criminals was neutralised, while others fled with varying degrees of bullet injuries into the forest.
He said the operatives recovered one AK 49 rifle, loaded with 31 rounds of 7.62 X 39mm live ammunition, one locally made rifle with one 12-guage polymer cased shotgun shell.
He said the precision and gallantry exhibited by the officers that left the bandits in disarray were exemplary.
“The command is calling on members of the public, especially medical practitioners, to report any person found with suspected bullet injury in the said axis for prompt action,” he said.
Jalige said in a similar incident, the police also arrested three suspected bandits on Oct .2, and recovered a submachine gun.
“Operatives of the command attached to Saminaka Divisional Headquarters in Lere LGA, on Oct. 2, at about 03:30hrs, acting on a credible information, carefully raided Kuwait Hotel, located in Unguwan Bawa, Saminaka, and arrested three suspects.
“During a search of their rooms, the following items were recovered; one submachine gun (SMG) loaded with one round of 9mm live ammunition and a Department of State Services Identity Card.
“The suspects are currently undergoing investigation and will be charged to court on completion of same,” he said.
Jalige disclosed further that the command on Oct 5,also received an information that one Superintendent of Police was seen around Mamadi Layout Rigachikun Kaduna, making illegal arrest and extorting money from unsuspecting members of the public.
“On receipt of the information, officers were immediately mobilised to the area and succeeded in arresting one fake police officer parading himself as SP Usman Magaji, and criminally dispossessing innocent persons of their legitimate earnings.
“Upon investigation, two sets of neon blue police uniforms were found in his possession.
“The suspect has since confessed to the crime and will be charged to court on completion of investigation.
“The command is, therefore, calling on the public to report any of such persons to the nearest police formation,” he said.
Jalige said, the command also on the same date, while investigating a case of armed robbery, arrested one suspect and recovered a complete police uniform bearing the name Pius Philips with an inspectorate cadre’s rank.
“During the course of investigation, the suspect confessed to have been using the uniform for some nefarious activities.
“The suspect will be charged to court after completion of investigation,” he said.
The PPRO said the above successes were not unconnected with the renewed commitment and cordial relationships between the police and communities in the area of information sharing.
According to the Commissioner of Police in the state, Mr Mudassiru Abdullahi, appreciates the gesture.
He urged the officers to be civil with their host communities so that the command could leverage on the renewed vigour to safeguard lives and property of law abiding citizens of the state.
The Department of State Services (DSS) has trailed to Oyigbo, Port Harcourt, Rivers State, and arrested one Innocent Chukwuma who used his social media handle to rally the military to overthrow the current government.
Posting on his “X” handle “@TheAgroman,” Chukwuma stated that a coup was needed in Nigeria and called on the military to “suspend the Nigerian government.”
He posted, “A coup in Nigeria is needed.
Dispose of APC, suspend the Nigerian Government, and join the AES. That is all we need now.
“It will happen eventually. Nigerians, the military needs your support now! Only them can save this country.
“The bastard in Aso Rock has basically sold this country to the West, and they run our intelligence apparatus. Only the military can reset this country. Support them,” Chukwuma posted.
A source disclosed that the suspect is cooperating with DSS investigators.

President Bola Tinubu has written to the Senate, requesting the confirmation of the newly appointed Service Chiefs.
The letter, addressed to Senate President Godswill Akpabio and read during Tuesday’s plenary in Abuja, listed the nominees for the country’s top military positions.
Those named include:
- General Olufemi Oluyede – Chief of Defence Staff
- Major-General Waheedi Shaibu – Chief of Army Staff
- Rear Admiral Idi Abbas – Chief of Naval Staff
- Air Vice Marshal Kennedy Aneke – Chief of Air Staff
- Major-General Emmanuel Undiendeye – Chief of Defence Intelligence
In the correspondence, President Tinubu urged the Senate to expedite the confirmation process to enable the new military heads to assume their duties without delay.
The Senate has since referred the request to the Committee of the Whole for screening and confirmation of the nominees, scheduled to take place next week.

The Chairman of the House of Representatives Committee on Internal Security, Hon. Garba Ibrahim Muhammad, has revealed that terrorists have issued threats to bomb the National Assembly Complex in Abuja.
Hon. Garba made the disclosure on Tuesday during a public hearing on a bill seeking to establish a Legislative Security Directorate, a new body proposed to strengthen security and protect lawmakers, staff, and visitors within the National Assembly.
“We have received threats from terrorists to bomb the National Assembly Complex, and also from protesters planning to lock up the premises,” Garba stated.
He warned that Nigeria’s seat of democracy faces growing security risks, including vehicle and motorcycle theft, vandalism, infiltration by unregistered persons, and the use of fake identity cards.
According to him, failure to address these lapses could have grave consequences.
“It is clear that if proper security measures are not implemented, legislative activities could be truncated. Without sittings, there will be no representation, oversight, annual budget, or plenary — and that will destabilize both the legislature and the nation’s democracy,” he cautioned.
Garba emphasized the need for a coordinated security framework to ensure a safe and functional parliamentary environment.
“That is why this Bill is crucial. It aims to tackle these challenges and align Nigeria’s parliamentary security system with global best practices,” he added.
The proposed legislation, titled “A Bill for an Act to Provide for the Establishment and Functions of the Legislative Security Directorate in the National Assembly (HB 1632)”, was considered at the House Conference Hall 028 in Abuja.
While acknowledging the importance of keeping Parliament accessible to citizens, Garba insisted that public access must not compromise security.
“The need for effective security in the National Assembly cannot be overstated. This Bill is committed to ensuring the best possible security architecture to protect legislators, staff, visitors, and property,” he said.
He further encouraged state Houses of Assembly across the country to adopt similar frameworks to strengthen legislative security nationwide.
“With these few points of mine, I wish us a peaceful and productive hearing that will mark a turning point in the National Assembly’s security system,” Garba concluded.
