Supreme Court Quashes Andy Ubah, Stella Odua’s elections

The election of Andy Ubah and former Aviation Minister, Stella Odua into the nation’s apex law making body, the National Assembly has been quashed by the Supreme Court.
It would be recalled that while Uba represented Anambra South in the National Assembly, Odua represented Anambra Central before the decision of the Supreme Court to sack them over pre-election matters.
In the ruling delivered by the apex court Friday morning, they are to be replaced by Chris Ubah (Anambra South) and Annie Okonkwo (Anambra Central).
Prior to the Supreme Court’s action, the third Senator from the state, Mrs. Uche Ekwunife had been removed by the Court of Appeal.
The three become Senators on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.
Chief Andy Ubah served as Special Adviser to former President Olusegun Obasanjo on Domestic Affairs before venturing into full time politics.
Another beneficiary of the Supreme Court’s action is Mr. Ejike Oguebego who was re-affirmed as the authentic State Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP in Anambra State.
The apex court had declared the list of candidates for various elective positions submitted by the other faction illegal.
It would also be recalled that Mr Oguebego had sued on behalf of themselves and others including Mr Chris Uba, who is the Anambra South senatorial candidate for the apex court to determine who were the legal and validly nominated candidates of the party to stand for the last general elections for the party in Anambra.
Investigations by Nigerian Concord Newspaper reveal that the Executive Secretary of the Nigerian Shippers Council, Mr. Pius Akutah, has allegedly misappropriated public funds for a lavish lifestyle.
According to our findings, within months of assuming office, Akutah allegedly purchased a bulletproof SUV valued at approximately N850 million. In addition, he is reported to have acquired over twenty exotic SUVs for use as a convoy.
Akutah is also said to have acquired multiple high-value properties, including three in Abuja’s Maitama and Asokoro districts worth over N2 billion, and two in Lagos’ Banana Island valued at N1.8 billion. These acquisitions appear far beyond the scope of his official salary and allowances.
Further investigation suggests that Akutah may be using public funds to support political ambitions, including allegedly grooming militants across 23 local government areas in Benue State for a potential 2027 gubernatorial bid.
Staff of the Shippers Council reportedly claim that Akutah frequently accesses the council’s treasury without proper authorization. Some insiders have indicated that a petition will soon be filed with the EFCC, ICPC, and the Presidency to report his alleged misconduct.
