In a recent interview, popular Nigerian musician Timaya opened up about his personal life, specifically why he has chosen to stay unmarried despite his success in the music industry.
Timaya explained that he has never been inclined toward marriage and that it’s not something he feels drawn to. However, he clarified that he has not completely ruled out the possibility of marriage in the future.
“I’ve never been a married guy right from time, but it can change because marriage ‘dey craze’,” Timaya shared. He further expressed his thoughts on the commitment, admitting that he often wonders whether he would be able to handle the responsibilities of marriage. “If I marry today, would I be able to get out? In all my previous relationships, I was the one who got out because I don’t like stress,” he added.
The singer emphasized that his reluctance towards marriage comes from his desire for freedom and a dislike for stress. “I don’t like going to bed thinking about things, I go die o,” Timaya said, stressing the importance of open communication in relationships. “If you have a problem with me, let’s talk about it. I don’t like anything to bother me at all.”
Regarding fatherhood, Timaya shared that while his children live with their respective mothers, they maintain a close and loving relationship. He noted that being a father can be challenging at times, but it is also incredibly rewarding. “It’s stressful, but it’s enjoyable,” he said, adding that he spends quality time with his children, who frequently visit him for extended periods.
Despite his stance on marriage, Timaya remains open to the idea, leaving room for change in the future.
